Chongqing Nanshan Park
Nanshan Park is situated in the mountainous area of the Nanshan Scenic Area and was built in 1959, facing Chongqing right across the Yangtze River. It is a complete park integrated into the forest surrounding it, boasting nature's best in terms of flowers and forestry, reinforced by the varying land formations that stretch right up to an altitude of just over 680 metres above sea-level, in addition to the Yangtze River.
Chongqing City proper is in very close proximity to the Nanshan Park and the Park has a very long history with a lot of cultural significance contained therein as well.
Highlights
Nanshan Park is divided into four areas, namely the specified ornamental flower garden zone, the nursery area, the plant and ecological conservation area and the ornamental forest zone, each practically serving for the various needs of the different types of visitors who come to the park.
The in-house Botanical Garden hosts an all-inclusive service area, fully-equipped with hotels, restaurants, clinics, research areas, photographic areas, supermarkets, coffeehouses and cafes, adding a fair bit of practicality to the venue and giving tourists and local visitors a whole lot more to get into.
Flower shows and other events like the Sakura Festival are a natural part of the Nanshan Park, making for a whole other world to enjoy, in addition to the sightseeing it offers.
The Sculpture Garden is a particular sight of interest, which is one of the many attractions adding to the value of the Nanshan Park, generally making for a great escape from the normal fast life the nearby Chongqing City offers.
In somewhat of an ironic twist, the very city from which a number of Nanshan Park visitors escape, is one of the major attractions of the Nanshan Park, in that the city can be viewed from a distance, from a number of unique positions high up in the mountainous region of the park.
The allure probably lies in the recreation of a situation where the hustle and bustle of the busy city is reduced to nothing but a distant sight, since the whole city can be seen from some of the better viewing spots, while the relaxing environment of nature's own arrangements offers a contrast to the city at the same time.

The majority of the departure points which cater for Nanshan Park include Xining (the actual city that is attached to the park), Baoji City and Lanzhou City, so all the transport options the cities have on offer cater to the area.
