Chongqing Goose Neck Park

Goose Neck Park Goose Neck Park is one of the oldest gardens built in Chongqing and it is located at the highest place in the area. It is best enjoyed at night as it offers great view of the entire city. It was previously named Goose Nape Hill due to its narrow and steep shape that resembled goose’s nape. It was built in 1909 and it is home to hundreds of special species of plants.
Due to its perfect location, the park has been recognized as a great place for resting. Exploring the whole park that offers beautiful scenery and watching locals’ doing activities there is an interesting enjoyment.

Fast History

Goose Neck Park used to be a private garden and the home of rich businessman named Lee Yaoting and his son who were originally from Yunnan province. They initially named the place “Li Garden” which is recognized as the earliest private garden in the area.
The park was built during 1644 – 1911 and it was restored in 1958 where pavilions, high buildings, platforms, lotus ponds, corridors, and arch bridges were added in the garden.

Major Attractions

Because of its strategic location, the park offers visitors with grand view of both the Jialing and the Yangtze River. The mountain towers the sky as if watching over the mountain city of Chongqing.
Aside from delicate landscapes and amazing bamboo groves, another major attraction is the park’s hot springs. Bathing and swimming is encouraged.
Other attractions include the zoo that houses rare animals like pandas and golden monkeys, the Bonsai Garden, Sheng Bridge, Tiger Terrace, and Chongqing museum that displays dinosaur fossils, stone scriptures, etc.
In the Bonsai garden, people can just sit back and relax while drinking traditional Chinese tea. Expect various exhibitions such as chrysanthemum expos.
Lansheng Pavillion is something that travelers must not miss. Also known as Two River Pavilion, it offers visitors a bird’s eye view of the breathtaking sceneries of the two rivers.

The best time to visit the place is in summer and autumn because it is generally cooler during these seasons.
